Michael Edison Hayden, Graceland

Michael Edison Hayden is an American stage, and fiction writer.  He completed his BFA at NYU/Tisch School of the Arts in the Department of Dramatic Writing, and MFA at the University of Iowa in the Writer’s Workshop where he met his literary agent, Morgan Jenness of Abrams Artists Agency.  Michael has taught Playwriting and History of Theatre for the University of Iowa, and English Literature for Adelphi University.  Over the past 13 years, he has written numerous plays, screenplays, monologues, poems, and essays.  His work for the stage has been produced or developed at New York Theatre Workshop (Ghost Sonata, development, Mondays at 3), The Williamstown Theatre Festival (The Fetishist, Black Box, production), The Flea Theatre (The Exhibitionists, development, The Bats,), The Iowa New Play Festival (How Do You Sleep at Night?, The Exhibitionists, The Books), The Cherry Lane Theatre (The Books, workshop, Imperfect People), The Access Theater (A Light Behind the Curtain, production, Imperfect People), Westbeth Theatre (Mamma’s Boy, workshop), and Manhattan Theatre Source (A Quiet Homily, production, Imperfect People).  His play, The Books, was most recently produced at The Cherry Pit as part of the 2009 New York International Fringe Festival.  It received critical acclaim from The Village Voice, Time Out New York, and was the critic’s pick of Backstage Magazine.  Michael recently adapted The Books for the screen, under contract, for a project with Rosetta Films.  The playscript is now published, and available for purchase from Original Works.  Michael is proud to be a co-founder of Imperfect People.
